Strengthening Our Children’s Home

Strengthening Our Children’s Home

“Where abandoned and orphaned children find care, stability, and a future.”

Every child deserves a safe home, loving care, and the opportunity to grow with dignity. For children who have lost their parents or been abandoned, this basic right is often uncertain. Peace Himalaya, in partnership with a local non-profit organization, is committed to ensuring that these vulnerable children are not left behind.

Today, 10 children — including two recent rescue cases — live full-time under our protection and care. What began as a response to urgent need has become a nurturing home where children are rebuilding their confidence, stability, and hope.

A Home That Nurtures Potential

Despite the hardships they have faced, these children are truly remarkable. They:

  • Perform excellently in school
  • Actively participate in extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
  • Support and encourage one another like a family

Their progress shows that when children are given love, stability, and opportunity, they thrive.

Comprehensive Care and Support

Through our local partner organization, Peace Himalaya provides holistic support to ensure each child’s physical, emotional, and educational well-being:

  • Nutritious and balanced food
  • Access to health care
  • Education and school-related support
  • Psychological counselling
  • A safe and loving home environment

This integrated care model allows children not only to survive, but to grow with confidence and purpose.

Current Situation and Standards

There are currently 10 children under care, with two recent additions. The home has already reached about halfway toward meeting the minimum legal standards required for children’s residential care facilities.

While the home occasionally receives small and irregular cash or in-kind contributions from individuals, the overall resources remain limited and insufficient for long-term sustainability.

However, despite financial constraints, the quality of care is exceptional. In comparison to many other children’s homes in Nepal, this home maintains a significantly higher standard, particularly in:

  • Education support
  • Hygiene and sanitation
  • Interior management and organization
  • Hospitality
  • Child protection and emotional care

The environment is structured, clean, nurturing, and child-centered.

Urgent Need for Upgrades

To ensure long-term security and compliance with legal requirements, the home urgently needs upgrades and structural improvements. Meeting full legal standards is not just about regulation — it is about safeguarding the children’s future and ensuring the continuity of care.

Sustainability remains a major concern. While day-to-day operations continue, long-term planning requires stronger financial stability and infrastructure investment.

Encouragingly, one board member has expressed willingness to provide land if there is an opportunity to build a permanent home for the children. This could be a transformative step toward stability and long-term security.

Looking Toward a Sustainable Future

To secure the future of these children, additional fundraising strategies and partnerships are essential. Peace Himalaya is actively exploring sustainable solutions that will:

  • Upgrade infrastructure to meet full legal standards
  • Ensure consistent operational funding
  • Provide long-term educational and life opportunities for each child
  • Potentially establish a permanent residential facility on donated land

This is more than a shelter — it is a foundation for life.

With the right support, these 10 children can continue to grow into educated, confident, and compassionate young leaders. Strengthening this home means protecting childhood, restoring dignity, and building a future filled with possibility.

Together, we can ensure that no child grows up without care, protection, and hope.
